Position Available: Associate Actuary (Part Qualified)

The Role

You'll work on pensions on divorce cases, preparing and supporting the production of PODE reports across a range of pension schemes. You'll be involved in the full lifecycle of casework and, as you progress towards qualification and with sufficient experience, will develop towards signing off reports in your own right. You’ll gain significant experience in all aspects of pensions, including public sector DB, private sector DB and DC, overseas and state benefits.

You'll also take a hands-on role in mentoring and developing our junior analysts. This is a core part of the position. We want someone who can share their pensions and actuarial experience and help raise the technical standard across the team as we grow.

This is genuine specialist work with a clear trajectory and not a support role with a vague promise of progression. If you are currently in a consulting environment, it gives an opportunity to use your pensions skills in a different area of work.

Key Responsibilities

·Gathering information from pension providers/administrators/individuals.

·Analysing cases, including information.

·Writing and producing pension sharing reports, with clear progression towards reviewing.

·Maintaining and updating client records.

·Communicating with family lawyers/litigants in person/financial mediators.

·Managing cases from start to completion.

·Supporting and training more junior colleagues.

What We’re Looking For

·Part-qualified actuary with good momentum through the exams.

·Around 2–4 years of pensions experience, ideally with a strong technical background in DB pensions (though a mix of DB and DC is welcome) from a consulting background or in pensions on divorce.

·Don’t be put off by mention of public sector pensions. Whilst this would be helpful, it is by no means essential!

·You’ll be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of cases with clear, precise written communication.

·Strong MS Excel and Word skills.

·Resident in the UK.

·Desire to make a difference and contribute to training more junior analysts.

What We Offer

·Competitive salary (level depending on experience)

·Strong and transparent quarterly bonus structure

·DC pension, life assurance, and private medical insurance

·Full exam support including fees and approximately one study day per week

·Fully remote working with flexibility (we meet up roughly once a month in the Midlands)

·Direct access to senior actuaries to discuss and develop your actuarial skills and knowledge (in a friendly, non-hierarchical environment)

·A genuine path to expert witness sign-off once qualified
